First Day of School Jitters

Remember those last days of summer, excited to wear those new school clothes and anxious to see your friends and see what your teacher was like?  Well, I'm feeling that a bit today.  I've got some new digs to wear since the old ones don't quite fit yet (thank you pregnancy, I'm sure it has nothing to do with the many donuts I craved and enjoyed ;)) and a small ball of nerves as I imagine my first day at a new job.

Tomorrow marks my last day of maternity leave at home with Parker.  While I'm excited to start the new job, it brings me sadness to think that it's the last day to be a part of Parker's everyday life.  Thankfully, Friday brought us another milestone in his life that I was able to capture.  This mama got her first smile out of the little guy!! I can't tell you how wonderful it was to see after so many weeks (6 to be exact) of feedings and diapers changes and just staring into each other's eyes, wondering what is going through his head.

I just love his little grin!
Naturally, this immediately became my screen saver on my phone, so I'm guessing I will be gazing at it as much as possible on Tuesday.

Tuesday will also mark the first day of Daddy Daycare!  Yes, Scott will be home with him my first (short) week of work, so I'm hoping this will make that first drive to the office much more bearable.   Wish me luck!

  1. Good luck! I know how much this bothers you but I also know how you are the type that needs to work. It will make for a different type of challenge which you will excel at. I love that little grin too. He has just changed so much. Good luck to Scott too. Love all three of you so much. Mom

  2. Parker's little grin is SO CUTE!!!! I love it! :) And I'm so glad that you got to see it before going back to work. We'll be praying all goes well-- for you at the new job and for Scott and Parker at Daddy Daycare! :)

  3. Heather, I can imagine how hard it will be to leave him. He is so beautiful. I am glad he smiled for you. I am sure Scott will take good care of him that first week. Maybe Norm needs to retire and become a full-time Grandpa. Then again, maybe not. ;-)
