Adventures in Daddy Daycare

Success!  My first week to work and Scott and Parker's week together could not have gone any smoother.  Although Scott may disagree about that considering his first night on Parker duty equaled little sleep and TWO dirty diapers within minutes of each other as I was getting ready for my first day (good job Parker!).  Sorry hun, but I couldn't help but giggle.  Parker just wanted to initiate you to daycare the right way ;)

If you're friends on Facebook, then you probably are already clued in on the many shenanigans (thanks Rachel!) that Scott put Parker through.
In case you missed them, here is a play by play of their week:

Tuesday - Scott and Parker headed to Valley West Mall.  Scott says he "needs" a new pair of shoes and jeans, I think he just wanted to show off his cute son to all of the others.  He did report back that he had several ladies swooning over Parker, which I totally understand.  I mean, how could you not love this little guy?!

As Scott stated, "Time for work!"  If in fact, cruising the mall is what you call work ;)
Wednesday - Lunch at Subway and Home Depot.  Pretty low-key day!

I don't even want to know what was on tv to cause this expression!

Thursday - Busy day for these guys!  First stop, go see Grandpa Nim at the job trailer.  Parker has not yet decided what he wants to be when he grows up, so it's always good to check out his options.  Then, a trip to yet another mall, Jordan Creek.  I think these boys like to shop!  Somehow, it turned into quite the field trip.  Who knew Scheels could double as an indoor zoo?!

Bundled up and ready to go for the day!  Parker looks a little concerned with the busy schedule.....

Grandpa Nim & Parker.  Guess he's more interested in his hands than work.

Friday - TGIF!  Thankfully, mommy works a short shift on Friday and this week it was from 8 am - 1pm. The three of us had a lunch date at Smokey D's (yum!) after I got off work.  I was definitely looking forward to spending time with my boys all morning long!

Bath time!  Gotta make sure I'm nice and clean for my date.  Daddy is teaching him already.

All in all, we had a great week.  Mom is learning a lot at her new job and the boys had some great bonding time.  Next week, Parker is looking forward to spending some time with Aunt Tina and Grandma & Grandpa Jensen!

First Day of School Jitters

Remember those last days of summer, excited to wear those new school clothes and anxious to see your friends and see what your teacher was like?  Well, I'm feeling that a bit today.  I've got some new digs to wear since the old ones don't quite fit yet (thank you pregnancy, I'm sure it has nothing to do with the many donuts I craved and enjoyed ;)) and a small ball of nerves as I imagine my first day at a new job.

Tomorrow marks my last day of maternity leave at home with Parker.  While I'm excited to start the new job, it brings me sadness to think that it's the last day to be a part of Parker's everyday life.  Thankfully, Friday brought us another milestone in his life that I was able to capture.  This mama got her first smile out of the little guy!! I can't tell you how wonderful it was to see after so many weeks (6 to be exact) of feedings and diapers changes and just staring into each other's eyes, wondering what is going through his head.

I just love his little grin!
Naturally, this immediately became my screen saver on my phone, so I'm guessing I will be gazing at it as much as possible on Tuesday.

Tuesday will also mark the first day of Daddy Daycare!  Yes, Scott will be home with him my first (short) week of work, so I'm hoping this will make that first drive to the office much more bearable.   Wish me luck!

Parker's first 40 weeks

My only regret from my pregnancy is not keeping a better journal or even starting a blog sooner to track the first 40 weeks of the little guy's life (hello first mom fail!).

One thing we did do a good job of - weekly belly pictures!  So instead of a journal, here is a view of my pregnancy in pictures.....

6 weeks

9 weeks

16 weeks (also my 32nd birthday!)

19 weeks

23 weeks

26 weeks (and a hair color change)

30 weeks

37 weeks

39 weeks - a dear friend of ours did maternity pictures for us!
40 weeks - final belly picture

And one week later, our lives changed forever....

Stay tuned for his birth story.....

Two years

Today is our two year wedding anniversary.  Two years ago we woke to a rainy March morning wondering if the sky would clear for our wedding.  Even though the rain continued, we still enjoyed a beautiful ceremony with family and friends.

Saturday night, Scott and I enjoyed our first date night since Parker was born. We had a great time enjoying a yummy meal just the two of us, however we couldn't wait to get home to the little guy. We ended up finishing dinner around 8, so we decided to run to Sears to check out fridges for the basement (exciting date night, huh?! ;)).  A quick run through the Starbucks drive-thru after that and we were home by 8:30.  Oh, how date night has changed!  We wouldn't have it any other way though.

A few pictures to reminisce....

Happy Anniversary Scott.  I love you more and more every day and I thank God for bringing you into my life.  I can't wait to see what the years to come will bring us!

We're blogging!!

Welcome to Scholten News! Pardon the mess, I'm still figuring out this whole "blogging" world.  So if it looks a little bleak around here at first, that's why!

Scott and I were chatting a few weeks ago about how much we enjoy reading a few of our friends' blogs and especially hearing about the changes in their little ones' lives.  So in an effort to keep all of our families and friends informed of Parker's milestones and daily fun (because let's face it, no one cares about the mom and dad anymore ;)), we decided to start a blog of own.    We hope you enjoy!

And because everything is better with pictures....

Parker says hi!
